I was in the area so thought Id try again. No luck here. I feel like I had a good proper look this time. No rain helps. Unfortunately no luck finding this cache. Any chance the CO can check on this one to make sure its still there?Peace, Tara

Unfortunately no smiley for me today. I searched everywhere around GZ especially focusing on a certain red box but no luck finding any cache. Would have searched longer but it started to bucket down rain on me!

After catching up with a friend along Pako I thought Id take a look at this cache. Found the plaques easily and amused a muggle as I scribbled away on my notebook at each one and did the math for coordinates. Waited for a few muggles on bikes to pass by and then it was time to try and find the cache. I spent a bit of time looking around but didnt seem to see the cache before more muggles came to stay. Will try again soon!

Hoping to come along and meet some other geocachers. Sounds like a lovely way to start the day. Thanks for hosting!

This was a nice and easy find today. Required a little stealth as there were three tradies nearby taking their lunch break. My stealth was not the best when trying to put the log back and I received a few amused glances from the tradies. Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 12.07 pm Wednesday 18 October 2023. Sadly this is my third DNF for this tricky cache. Today there were white a few muggles wandering so I decided to pop on my hi vis vest so it looked like Im meant to poke about here. Nobody even looked at me twice once I had my vest on. Love it. Anyway, any hints for this one would be absolutely brilliant as Id love to change this one to a smiley. Also, heads up all the greenery has been removed all along the fence now so not sure if that will impact on the hide or the searching.

This is my first virtual cache and I really enjoyed this one. Ive been wanting to do this one for some time and with my physio appointment just across the road and plenty of time on my parking its time to get caching! (Happy to mention that my physio is now super keen to try out geocaching after talking with me during my session.)Thank you to suscoe for sharing the history of Johnstone Park with more people! Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 11.20 am Wednesday 18 October 2023. Answers sent to CO Geocaches found: 37 Photo: no spoilers, just the task photo of my name with my favourite mural on the back of the Geelong Art Gallery.

Thank you TR! for organising this multi. Ive driven by the historical marker many times and never stopped to take a look. Love learning history and working out these GZ coordinates was one of the first multis Id worked on. Gorgeous walk to GZ and made some wonderful goat friends along the way. I probably didnt have the best footwear for this cache as I had to be super careful not to slip as I searched but I managed to not fall on my butt so winning! Spent some time searching at GZ and wasnt having any luck. Stood back to take in the view and look around. Spotted a couple of likely hiding spots about 10m away. Then received a phone call needing me to head back to the car right away! Gah! So close but thought Ill be back soon as I was walking back I thought 'sod this!' and quickly hopped off the path to where I would hide a cache and cue the happy dance cache in hand! Quickly scribbled my name on the log and dashed away. I think Ill have to come back here for a walk though. So lovely. Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 6.34 pm Tuesday 17 October 2023. Was hoping to turn this one into a smiley last week (9/10) and was happy that my GPS was behaving. Coordinates took me right to where I believe the cache should have been last time I looked. Armed with a TOTT to see if I could reach further this time and still came up empty but made friends with a worm. I do believe this one has been muggled but would love someone to prove me wrong. Still love the spot this geocache takes us. Very calm and peaceful.Could the CO please check on this one? Thanks a bunch.

Decided to do a little park and grab after a Bunnings trip today. Quite a few people down here in their cars but I was able to not look suspicious at all as I found this cache straight away. Purely by chance as it had fallen and was lying on top of the pine leaves. Quickly grabbed it and signed the log back in the car. When I went to hide the cache, I couldnt find a safe enough spot for it but thankfully Id picked up some geocache supplies when at Bunnings. Armed with some fishing wire Ive attached the cache in a hopefully safe spot for it. Also needs new log book so I added some paper as well. Thanks for the cache! After working a long day at my old primary school, I was thankful for daylight savings and being in the neighbourhood for a couple of quick caches on my way home. Nothing like rewarding oneself with a geocache or two after working hard! My GPS was bouncing around around a bit with this one so I put on my geo thinking hat and spotted a likely hidey spot et voil! Cache in hand. Many cobwebs here so cautiously wiggled it up. Not a fan of spiders but thankfully didnt see any! Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 7.30 pm Saturday 14 October 2023. Signed log as: taralee_peace Took nothing, left nothing. Nothing like rewarding oneself with a geocache or two after working hard! A little searching while being serenaded by a baby magpie, I soon found a potential hidey hole. Im happy to have found this one especially with its nifty camouflage. Grateful Im tall as well. Log was a little damp but not too bad just yet. Thanks for the cache! Very happy to change this one to a smiley! Even with it raining a little, my gps thankfully wasnt bouncing about as much as last time. Found GZ and very quickly had cache in hand today!! Thoroughly enjoyed this themed cache (even if Id looked odd without a dog at a dog park) and the cache container was perfect! Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 5.20 pm Friday 13 October 2023. As someone who loves writing snail mail, this cache made me smile. This cache was gorgeous and I loved finding this one. Definitely earned a favourite point from me! Social media does provide a great way to connect with friends and family but there is something absolutely lovely to receive a handwritten letter. Ive been writing for many years now to both family and friends across the world and love seeing their writing and hearing their stories. I enjoy making handmade envelopes and including little surprises in letters fun too. Maybe think of sending a little note in the post to someone you love. Its sure to make them smile knowing youre thinking of them. Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 3.30 pm Monday 9 October 2023. Signed log as: TW Took nothing, left nothing. Geocaches found: 30

What lovely days weve been having this week! On Wednesday I caught up with a friend of mine at one of my favourite cafes, Hahndorfs Chocolates on Pakington Street. Wed been planning on walking to Space Gallery after the cafe but alas they were closed so I convinced my friend to walk along the river with me. How convenient that there happened to be two caches along our walk. Who would have thought! Thankfully my friend is super chill and used to my quirkiness as I started to veer off the path. After explaining geocaching, we both grabbed some sticks and started poking around for treasure. I was just about to move on from one of the places Id been looking when a tiny glint of something caught my eye. Quickly I called my friend over and huzzah! Her first cache has been discovered!!! After signing the log with both our names and hiding the cache again, we set out for more adventuring. Cache is in great condition and we both liked the hide. Id recommend grabbing a stick to poke around with so that you can be careful of snakes and spiders. My friend and I make a great pair shes terrified of snakes and I do not like spiders! Thankfully neither were spotted on this day but stay safe lovelies! Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 1.50 pm Wednesday 27 September 2023. Wed been planning on walking to Space Gallery after the cafe but alas they were closed so I convinced my friend to walk along the river with me. How convenient that there happened to be two caches along our walk. Who would have thought! After finding GC12V20 The Secret Path we walked along till we reached GZ for this cache. If we found the cache, my friend would have two cache finds to her name. The search was on!!Armed with sticks for poking about we started investigating possible hidey holes. The GPS kept jumping about a little but eventually settled on one spot. We checked one end each then swapped in case wed missed something. Something looked slightly suss and then I spotted a glint of something I knew didnt belong. Called my friend over and she searched again. She couldnt believe it when she found it! Her hand had been on it several times while looking!! After signing the log with both our names and hiding the cache again, we chatted while heading back up to Pako. We have another geocacher to add to our lovely community! We are already making plans for more geocaching together. Thank you Bushfire for helping introduce my friend to the world of geocaching!Cache is in great condition and we both liked the hide. Heading home after enjoying a gorgeous day out I realised Id be driving by the coordinates Id worked out the other week. One quick stop, beautiful view, and some attempts at not looking too suss as I pulled on gloves for reaching. At first it was so frustrating because I could see the cache (thanks to my phone) and could feel the cache with the tips of my fingers! Could I get a proper hold on it? No. Did I give up? No. Did I get odd looks? Maybe. With the help of a little leverage I was able to get my hand on the cache properly. Did I do a happy dance as I signed the log? Very much yes to the amusement of some people passing. Smiles were shared but Im sure they thought I was odd. This is my third multi cache and really enjoyed working on this one. Thank you for sharing this history and two lovely places with us! Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 6.08 pm Wednesday 27 September 2023. Ive been wanting to do this cache for awhile and today I had my chance. Not too many at the dog park so I didnt look too suss walking around without a dog. Highlight of this cache so far had to be watching the doggy zoomies and friends being made between dogs!! So adorable! Worked out the coordinates and headed out walking. Soon realised it was a tad further than I initially thought so headed back to my geochauffeur and we got closer that way. Out of the geomobile and Im on foot and feeling very grateful we havent had a lot of rain lately. Found GZ and then started looking mozzies looking mozzies and daylight disappearing gah! No geocache in hand this time! Will back again to try and turn this into a smiley another day. Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara

Beautiful sunshine equals a good day for geocaching. My mum chose to play geochaffeur and we headed out with this cache in our sights. Cute cache and I like the theme. Thanks Fox_Girl Cache in good condition but need of new logbook as this one is definitely full. Also, heads up for those looking for this one I found a whole lot of abandoned fencing and barbed wire right near where you need to go through to reach the cache. Be super careful as some of the barbed wire was hidden by the grass. Stay safe lovely geocachers! Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 4.20 pm Saturday 23 September 2023. I had seen the plaque under the bridge before when driving past but didnt know the history so when I saw it was a geocache I was interested in exploring. Drove the dirt track avoiding deep potholes and nearly punctured our car tyres when we went over the bluestone gravel that had fallen down from the pile there. Thankfully car stayed in one piece and no need for tyre change! Close call though. Hopped out of the car and keeping an eye out for snakes I made it GZ. Read the plaque and was ready to turn right around and come straight back without searching for the cache because all around GZ was rubbish. Not just plain rubbish but so much broken bottles, glasses, and even a syringe. Did not want to poke around at all. Somehow managed to see the cache when I turned around. Would definitely not recommend taking any geodogs or little people to this cache. If you do choose to find this cache, I recommend wearing high vis (for safety and claiming to be maintenance), stay close to the wire fence line near the plaque, and avoid the metal barrier by the road. Stay safe people. Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 3.00 pm Friday 22 September 2023. Signed log as: Taralee.peace Took a cache buddy, left nothing. Geocaches found: 25

Yesterday when I stopped for this cache everything seemed to be going wonderfully. Although windy, the sky was clear for the moment. There were no people at the skate park, dirt track, or The Fort. I was able to work out coordinates easily this time (thanks for the checksum). Im all set on my S coordinate and start travelling to walk to reach the E coordinate then PHONE GOES FLAT!!! I tried having a look in potential places along the S coordinate but without my phone/compass I just didnt know exactly the distance from where I was. Sigh. First thing this morning (after a cuppa of course ) Im in my car to pick up this cache with my now FULLY CHARGED phone. Cache very shortly in hand!! Great colour camouflage done on the cache and loved the history lesson. Thanks for the cache! Peace, Tara Found 2.45 pm Thursday 21 September 2023. I was happy to turn this one into a smiley back in August! This was my first multi-cache and had been a little challenging at first to work out. I had initially been overthinking the maths to work out the coordinates. Thanks to some direction from some friendly geocachers on Facebook I was able to sort out the correct coordinates. Found but not found. *sigh*

Took along some equipment for me to use but alas too short! Determined I set out to MacGyver my way to reaching. Now I’m just a fraction away. More MacGyvering and I can reach … but the wind was not my friend and there would have been no way to put the cache back!!

Thanks for this cache. Great hide! Will have to come back on a less windy day!

Peace, Tara

No luck today with GPS bouncing and the odd muggle passing. Had to fake photography for awhile there! After some time, I am fairly confident I found where I’m meant to be looking but after searching I just couldn’t see it today! If it’s where I’m thinking it is that is one tricky hollow log! Fingers crossed I can find it next time!

Thanks for taking us to this pretty little wilderness.

Peace,

I’m hoping to attend but I am having surgery next week so will depend on my recovery and how I am on the day. Sounds like a great event though and I’d love to attend.

I was happy to turn this one into a smiley! This was my first cache of this kind and I loved finding this one! Definitely the smallest log I’ve written on so far. ️

Thanks for sharing this spot with us geocachers. I used to work for the Geelong Library and we’d bring up some of the discarded books for the exchange. Love little free libraries and book exchanges.

Thanks for the cache!

Super happy right now as I’ve officially reached 20 finds!

Found the cache pretty quickly as there were no muggles around. Signed the log, placed a crochet heart for some geocache love for the next person, and gave this one a favourite point. Thanks for being my twentieth smiley!

Success! After a DNF at the start of the year, I was able to easily have this cache in hand tonight. No idea why it was so hard to find last time!

Perfect time to go would be evening but after work knock off and dog walker time. Cache had no lid but where hidden must be protected from the rain. Left one of my little crochet hearts to spread the love for the next geocacher to find.

Glad to make this one a smiley!

Getting to this cache was tricky and certainly required Mjolnir to open up the spot to access the cache. Also used tweezers to pull it out to avoid some evidence of spider guardians. Found this one a challenge purely from pretending not to look suss from passing muggles. Thankfully mum was in the car so I could turn around quickly and act like we were simply having a conversation … with hiding the hammer quickly in my jacket. Not suss at all.

Thanks for the cache!

Spent a bit of time searching for this one. Some young muggles came along to play on the oval and one came up to see if I needed any help. Assured the muggle I was okay and just looking for something. Almost thought I’d have to mark a DNF but had a little read through some comments for clues. Thanks to one comment I was able to roughly work out where I needed to be to spy the cache … with hints in mind I went out on a limb and voila was able to spot the cache! Of course once I saw it, I couldn’t not see it even if a little tricky to get there. Signed the log and then the challenge of putting the cache back … very awkward and difficult to do but managed to do it without falling into the garden!! Yay!

With one successful find today I was hoping to change this one to a smiley! For awhile I decided to channel my inner child by pretending I was a pirate walking the plank. Eventually I found treasure and had the cache in hand! An absolutely brilliant sneaky hide and it doesn’t surprise me that I didn’t see it last time at all. Unfortunate the log is incredibly water damaged and I didn’t have any spare paper so attempted to sign the wet paper with my ink running. Would recommend new log and a waterproof plastic bag.

Have fun finding this one!

Delayed in posting last week’s find:

Thought I’d have to write off today’s search after encountering a very prickly pathway and eventually a shrubbery with no means of entry that I didn’t feel like crawling through. However! Mission was completed as I assessed and reassessed my pathways. A longer trip to avoid falling into a prickly patch, close toed shoes and eyes out for any snakes (grateful it wasn’t a hot day), and finally trusting my geocaching stubbornness … et voila! Cache in hand!! I love that this is a spot I have driven by so many times before and never realised there was a cache hidden here.

Nice and easy find today! I did have to use my pen to lever the lid open as it had rusted completely shut and thankfully avoided the dead spider near the cache base. Advice for this cache is make sure you stay safe as you are near the road. GZ has definitely taken a hit at some point and we got to keep our geocacher selves safe!
