Logs for Saskiwi

14-Jul-14
Cant maintain this cache any longer - its up for grabs if anyone wants it...

19-May-14
This cache needs a new owner - I am not able to maintain it any more sadly, so would any local geocachers like to adopt it??

25-Oct-12
Cache has met with a watery fate so disabled until we can replace it...nearly cracked 300 visits though!

11-Jan-12
Top marks for effort! Very impressed at this cache - seemed a bit "exposed" by recent garden maintenance so we did a bit of camouflaging when we left. TFTC

10-Jan-12
First find of 2012! Dropped off Jeep TB which had been malingering on a friend's kitchen windowsill since we found him together at Wypersfontein cache in Nelson over a year ago!

24-Dec-11
Heh heh - TFT cunning cache! Poked around for a bit and then - voila!

22-Dec-11
Found relatively easily but no pen so didn't log our visit. TFTC

Hmmm.. guess we didn't find it then! The Red Herring threw us - but we did spot something that fit most of the clues - will need to return with retrieval equipment... we'll be back - and this time also with a GPS that isn't out of juice!

28-Nov-11
New log book added

12-Apr-11
Noticed on a recent walk that the Feb 22 quake seems to have munched this cache's hideyhole - no one has found it for a while. Jr cachers claimed they could still "see" it but retrieval now impossible : (. Thanks bo&bronnie for making this one of our favourite caches - maybe it can be replicated somewhere else??!

25-Feb-11
Wow - nice to know it survived the quake - impressed at fellow cachers post-quake activity! Hope all Chch cachers are okay

06-Feb-11
Agreed - please archive. We decided it was to "out in the open" and muggle-prone sadly. Replaced it with "Industrial Waters" nearby.

17-Jan-11
Great cache found on holiday, found giant spider in process Surprised
TFTC

Found easily despite gps telling us to look on the other side of the path.
Took a couple of treasures - left a couple! TFTC

Looked up the cache name in Maori dictionary - handy!
Took bird, left fisher-guy! TFTC

13-Nov-10
First find using our new GPS - not that we needed it! Fit young novice cachers were quickly onto it - their first find. Took west-heading TB. Left sparkly accessories! TFTC

Found after a bit of a hunt - in the end our new GPS came in very handy! The gate mentioned in the notes seems to be gone due to recent subdivision. Took a pocket knife and left sparkly accessories! TFTC

02-Nov-10
Cache container replaced

01-Nov-10
Checked up on cache and found container was cracked and no longer watertight. Replaced with tin.

31-Oct-10
Disabled until I can replace cracked cache container

03-Oct-10
Quick find while on a bike ride with the Jr Cachers. Took a couple of animals and left a couple! TFTC

Hmmmm...think we were in the right location, but didn't have GPS on our bike ride, so were trying to find cache via clue - and there were a few too many spots that fit the description!

28-Sep-10
Appears to have been muggled - maybe too obvious a spot? Disabled while we consider whether to replace it.

27-Sep-10
Our second try - but it sounds like it WAS there - maybe our hands just weren't wee enough...?!

12-Sep-10
Found lying in full view on open ground so not sure where it was supposed to be hidden??? Seemed all intact though - took TB and crazybone - left assorted other kids goodies! Will take TB back to the Mainland with us.
Hid cache in a slightly more concealed location but it may need maintenance by owner and rehiding?

08-Sep-10
Knew this cache was here but had been waiting for junior cachers to join me find it. A week off school due to the quake was the perfect opportunity!
Nice hide. TFTC

15-Jul-10
Have replaced the gnawed cache container with a jar - hopefully that will be a bit more tooth-proof! Pencil has gone so bring something to write with until we can bring another.

Checked on it today and it seems four-legged muggles have been at it - (Bob says "I TOLD you there were mice under this tree"...) We will replace chewed up cache container with one made of sterner stuff tomorrow - in the meantime, watch your fingers!

Found by Jr Cachers while seniors were buying coffee across the road - (excellent cafe if you've worked up an appetite while hunting...)
A really well hidden cache - we forgot to bring swaps,oh well, so TNLNSL
TFTC

14-Jul-10
"This is the best geocache we've found so far!" - another happy jr cacher. Thanks for the trail which we enjoyed after being out with torches for the Night at the Museum KidsFest event. Despite being very familiar with this area, it kept us guessing right up until the end. Took the spider, left a glo-cube (light-up ice cube). Nearly lost the stone, so take care!

12-Jul-10
Update: we have replaced this as it was muggled after only a couple of days.
PLEASE be on the lookout for muggles before you attempt to retrieve this cache and replace it. Suggest using nearby seat to sit and write log??
Take care when rehiding it - when replaced correctly it should not be visible - put it "behind the door" please!

D'oh! - sounds like it's been muggled already - disabled until we can check

11-Jul-10
Sure we were in the right spot but no luck - will have to come back again!

10-Jul-10
Tried twice on consecutive days - again, sure we were in the right spot - could it have been muggled perhaps???
A lovely spot - shame about so much vandalism.

After striking out at the Schulhof we managed to hit on this one, on our tour of local caches to introduce our Neudorf friends to the fun. One of our junior cachers hit on it straight away. TFTC!

A fun easy find. Introducing some locals to their first geocache - they took the Jeep travelbug and will move him to a new home. TFTC

06-Jul-10
Found the container (Nugget tin) but it was empty Sad Such a good hiding place but a bit muggle-prone maybe?

19-Jun-10
This was a great spot for a cache, - took some hunting in very muddy conditions. We left a blue plastic monkey.
Took Will Turner key ring, met some other cachers while searching.
TFTC

Got right under the bridge and dug around in the mud but no luck. Coordinates put GZ a bit upstream from bridge so maybe we were in the wrong spot - but then according to the clue....?

06-Jun-10
Our crew of 6 found this without GPS thanks to clues - well camoflaged-we have blackberried this area before but had never stumbled across it! Took the teddy bear box and left little toy dog in the bag with the log book as he didn't have his own bag. TFTC

02-May-10
No luck searching for this one - sure we were in the right spot, as was another group of geocachers - found a spot where a cache could have been though??

01-May-10
Yay! - found it after second attempt. We don't use GPS and the rubbish bin in the clue is no longer there, which threw us off the trail a bit last time we looked.
Great hiding spot - took Homer Simpson and Chinese coin, left Samoan cowrie shell and Bakugan. Hoosiers Travel Hound is still there - kids wanted to take him but as we have no travel plans in the immediate future, left him for someone else! TFTC - it's a goodie.

Easy find, despite thousands of netballing muggles in the area on a Saturday morning!
We covered it with a few leaves as it was a little too easy to spot. TFTC

Easier to find than we thought it would be, as we don't have GPS and Google Maps shot was osbscured by lots of leaves.
Three from three in Hagley today.

25-Apr-10
our first cache. we are "freecaching" - no GPS. totally cool container had tons of fun

Still not there- cool hiding spot though - hope it can be replaced

Easy find - our third on ANZAC Day

Appropriately found on ANZAC Day. Water had got into the plastic bag which was torn and the notebook was soggy. We replaced it with another bag.

didn't find it.think its been muggled. good spot though
