The Duke of Lancaster was abandoned a long time ago in a dry dock on the Dee Estuary at Mostyn, near Holywell, North Wales. A lifeboat from the ship stands at the side of the main road in front of a local market - as does a small buoy boat.

This border monumnent, Carreg Carn March, marks the boundary between Flintshire and Denbighshire in North Wales. The stone at its base is said to be the imprint of King Arthur's horses hoof as it leaped from a nearby cliff to safety when chased by invading Saxons.

This is the holy spring of St Winifred.St. The story is told of how in the 7th century a young prince, Caradoc, visited Tegeingle near the mouth of the River Dee. Caradoc saw a pretty young girl called Winifred and made advances towards her. Winifred rejected them and then ran towards the church. Caradoc, furious for being treated in this way, chased after her and cut off her head with a sword.

Legend has it that where Winifred's head had fallen a holy spring was formed.A well was built where Winifred's head fell and people believed in the Middle Ages that its water had a curative quality.

At over 1000 feet long, Pontcysyllte is the longest and highest cast-iron aqueduct in the world. It is now a protected Grade I listed building, a Welsh National Monument and is one of the seven wonders of the British Inland Waterways System.
