Taking this one offline until we can confirm and check GZ

25-Aug-23
Happy to let this one go

17-Mar-23
Area looks ready to go soon - we will endeavour to get something back here soon

18-Jan-23
Still need more time as construction in area is still ongoing

09-Nov-22
Currently unavailable and likely we will need to relocate hide slightly once area has settled down

Putting this offline until area has settled down a bit and for re-jigging

13-Feb-22
Out and about doing some maintenance with the geo dog so we thought we would take her for a stretch and enjoy this track another time. A nice easy stroll and quick find on this beautiful sunny day. Thanks Tankengine.

Thanks StarsAlign for advising this cache required maintenance. As it was a perfect day for a Sunday drive we headed out with a new container. Switched out the old container and it’s now good to go.

05-Jan-22
Replaced the logbook and bag. Cache container relocated to a higher spot to keep out of the wet given all of the rain. Cache on.

06-Sep-20
Time to head out and check again. Disabling to save potential frustration.

05-Jul-20
A lovely winter ️ afternoon walk and a visit to a very familiar weir. Cache located quite easily, beginning to think the weir master has lost their evil streak, because there was definitely some more interesting and difficult options to hide his treasure.
But then again, perhaps we shouldn’t poke the bear

24-Jun-20
Lovely sunny day for a short walk to GZ. Navigation of the never ending construction zone the only real challenge...and the mud from recent rain . Cache quickly located and signed.
Definitely not the nicest smelling waterway atm! We managed to escape another way and got back to the car with only a bit of mud on our shoes.
TFTC and quite literally bringing us to this corner, will be interesting to return again after all the landscaping work is completed.

Looks like the Weir Master has made home in a nice new Greenfield, probably even has FttP connectivity! A far cry from some of his more deep dark Namadgi hideous! That's a pretty impressive flood control weir , can definitely see why it drew his attention!

A trickle little hide, had us stumped for a few minutes before Miss Stormcatcher had the treasure secured in hand.

Surprisingly too sunny and warm for Yettis today, but the mountain bikers were out in force! Found without taking a dip. Tricky little spot.
TFTC and revisit.

14-Jun-20
A lovely revisit to the area with our geo pup on a blustery Winter afternoon. Cache was found quickly, we then wondered through these old Elms and down to the small peninsula. Quite a pretty spot at this time of day!

16-May-20
Out on a walk so checked in here and cache is happy in place. Photo of log attached.

03-May-20
Another fun little late afternoon drive out with our new puppy - not a breed known to be very adventurous but she is fitting in nicely and handled the track to GZ with ease!
A nice little spot to explore, cache found with no issues.

Log book replaced

30-Apr-20
What an epic and clever sequel ! We were on a bit of an impromptu drive with the new geopup and along with quite inappropriate footwear on first look during transit with the D/T we thought it might not be possible to do the whole thing today ...well once at WP1 we were hooked and well on track to make the find.
All the information fell into place easily even with some slightly conflicting info that was quickly sorted with simple logic.
Another interesting railroad artefact greeted us at GZ and our fears of a long search were quickly extinguished.
Another great cache showing off this bit of track, loved it.

TFTC TE

Be a while since we have been this far south ! Nice easy find on this cold wet autumn day as we took our new little geopup for a spin.
Interesting robot, was good to stop and take a closer look.

04-Apr-20
Bit of self isolation escape with Miss Stormcatcher and our new Geo puppy, first time we have been down this end of town in months! Weather was closing in fast and the wind was really kicking up here. On the nice side there was a spectacular rainbow over Mt Tuggeranong
Cache found quickly after a quick dash up the slippery slope. Log signed and I made sure I sanitised the cache container before dashing back to the car as the heavens opened up.

22-Mar-20
A lovely Sunday adventure in the late evening sun, we have tackled this stretch a few times, but always nice to revisit especially with the water levels creating plenty of waterfalls as the river expands the gorge.
We gravitated to the cache and soon had our names on the logbook. Made it back to the car just as the last rays disappeared over the hills.

01-Mar-20
We rolled into the Arboretum about 20mins before close, enjoyed the glorious sunset and had the place just about to ourselves...a lovely walk from the main carpark to GZ where we quickly had the cache in hand.
Noticed this statue on our visit recently so it was nice to take a closer look. Not a move I could easily do without breaking my neck!
TFTC

First day of Autumn and what better place to head than the Cotter for a Cache. Have definitely crossed this causeway a few times in my life. We picked the correct altitude and soon had the cache in hand.

29-Feb-20
We ran out of time last time we were in the area so we thought this would make a good 2020 leap year find. The bike trail near GZ looks like it would live up to its name !
Cache found quite quickly and it was back off home.

23-Feb-20
We always love a nice stroll around Stromlo, collected all the data at each waypoint while trying not to get too distracted by all the interesting architecture and artefacts. Eventually made it to GZ, could almost make this a letterbox hybrid!

This area definitely needed another good multi to show it off. TFTC Tankengine

01-Feb-20
We snuck in about an hour from close, lots of sounds of fun and excitement happening across the lake at the water park. With the temperature still hovering in the high 30s we wanted to go join them!
Luckily we had this part of the peninsula to ourselves, except for the army of mosquitoes and other insects that came alive at the site of our head torches, that quickly became hand torches . We forged a path in Amazon adventure style and soon spotted a likely spot to hide such a cache. Mr Stormcatcher walked on water and soon had the cache in hand. Wouldn’t have been the nicest spot to fall in TBH.

21-Jan-20
Came past after the storms of yesterday to tick this one off, you would think I could sign a log without being impacted by blackberry thorns! But sadly no. Ouch .
No issues with the hide and spotted on approach.

20-Jan-20
Continued on in the reverse direction, lots of lovely water dragons sunning themselves, one even decided to play chicken with me on the bike path ! After weeks of dry hot weather the humidity was definitely noticeable, but not complaining ! Can see why this area is popular for fishing, but according to the fisherman at DDIII it can be quite perilous for your lure with all the rocks and drift wood! The drop off is quite apparent, suspect this is one of the deepest parts of the lake. Luckily I didn’t become a victim of the Denman Dropoff with some of the loose rocks around GZ. Had to carefully navigate and found the cache after only a few brief minutes.
TFTC

Parked near the rowing ramp and jumped out into the quickly escalating humidity! Must be a storm a brewing (and what a storm it turned out to be) , the fish were definitely jumping and getting excited. The very chatty local fisherman at DDIII meant I had to skip this one, telling me all about his 46CM red tail that he had just wrestled with .
Found this one fairly quickly considering, signed and headed off to DDI
Thanks for the nice urban hide, with most rivers and bush land areas of Canberra still in lockdown this is about all you can do!
TFTC

12-Jan-20
Headed out after dark to hunt down a new cache and check out the river levels! Yep, still low and extra stinky!
Was interesting to walk along the old pavement, we just hoped no one lost control on the upper one.
Cache was found it the first spot we checked, always a nice bonus.
Thanks for the cache TE, guess a new super level will be added soon!

11-Jan-20
Miss Stormcatcher solved this one (somehow) a while ago and it has been on the radar asking to be found. The conditions were much cooler and allowed for a nice evening stroll out Stromlo backyard.
Amazingly the cache was located and we enjoyed the red firey sunset

04-Jan-20
Another late evening climb, the air was dead still as we started, but as we crested the top we were hit with the most wonderful breeeze....that’s until the toxic death cloud (aka smoke) rolled in . It was surreal watching it as it swallowed up distant landmarks and edged closer and closer.
We have met the farmer that lives around these parts and he’s not particularly friendly so we didn’t spend too much time here, so we quickly discovered the cache and headed down.
We crunched back down in the dry grass, could almost pretend you were walking through snow with the sound.
An interesting spot, and fantastic vistas. TFTC

*highlight* spotting a wombat with her baby as we drove home, so cute as we pulled alongside them. Reminder that it’s worth taking it a little slower.

01-Jan-20
A very eerie start to our 2020 caching here on Black Mountain. The smoke creating a think barrier between the gums. Telstra tower seemed to just pop out from nowhere in the smoke shroud and the sun glowed a blood red.
The backdoor only guarded by a single lone roo mum and her bub. Cache located in the fairly obvious spot and signed.
TFTC

The island was barely visible in the evenings thick smoke and fading light as Mr Stormcatcher entered the water to make the short swim across to GZ. However in typical SC fashion he didn’t have the coordinates entered in the GPSr and needed to swim back, oh well, at least the water was enjoyable this time of year (nearby waterpark looks like fun too)!
So take two went without a hitch and the cache was quickly retrieved, the bare feet proving to be a benefit and not a hindrance. Cache signed and it was back across the channel to shore.
Nice to finally tick this one off, few more weeks with no rain and you might be able to walk across to GZ!

31-Dec-19
We were in the 80% on the first attempt but before the year wanted to turn the frown upside down.
Cache located this time, wow the area has seen some fast regrowth!
TFTC

This is were Mr Stormcatcher learnt to play tennis a lonnnnng time ago Interesting wall art.
Cache was quickly spotted in the smoke haze and signed.

Massive favour for the next finders - could you please take a photo of the logbook or relay the date we logged on this cache, seems it has dropped off our caching log list.
Cheers

We headed out into the smokey night air for a long overdue cache adventure!
Regretted not bringing a more modern tool, but we made do
The poo must get some nice momentum heading down the ridge, had a listen at the exposed bits but it was very silent! Maybe everyone has left town and flushing is at a minimum
I suspect the main trunk poop pipe is now further to the west as I doubt this one could service all of Gungahlin and Belconnen!
Amazingly we got all the measurements accurate to one or two decimetres and discovered the secret location. Very impressive in the darkness.
An interesting multi and a fantastic GZ.

28-Dec-19
Nice little sequel cache. Wetlands looking like drylands, but still green (in places) and full of bird and snake life !!!
Luckily the area was muggle free and made for a standard walk by.

16-Dec-19
We didn't even need to the pull the GPSr out for this one with our old geo brains remembering the exact bit of hardware this was likely to be attached too thanks to a previous cache.

Definitely more like drylands and not wetlands ATM, fingers crossed for a few summer storms to bring much needed rain.

Was lovely to return along this trail after a few years, somethings change, somethings don't.
Definitely a peaceful spot (minus the flies) for some reminiscing.
We have definitely had some fun finding the previous caches along this stretch.
A nice large am enjoyable cache was quickly located.
Thanks for the cache Tealby

15-Dec-19
Interesting little bit of Canberra history hiding in the now industrial estate amongst Data Centres and various logistical companies. We found the greenway to access this without too much trouble (or trespassing)and soon had a cache in hand. Thanks Tankengine

Quite a strange area you have stumbled on here Tankengine! Lots of strange structures and even some tunneling of some sort (or just erosion).
Definitely a bit of an old heap, not going anywhere fast. Cache was quickly discovered to complete our Hume Hattrick of caches .
TFTC Tankengine

Not the first time we have come to this terminus, this is one stop sign you should obey! Imagine this area to change a lot in the coming years. Not even this stop sign will stop progress. Some lovely views and perspectives to be had here.
Cache found and it was back along the tracks for one more.

Nice warm day and an almost dry riverbed! Cache located fairly quickly which we were both very grateful for !
