Returning 18 months after visiting in stormy season. This time all the conditions were right. Arrived for sunset and stayed to gaze at the stars.Answers sentThanks for the Earthcache!

I first heard of Mungo National Park 22 years ago and have wanted to visit ever since. Finally, I had an opportunity, although the weather was not cooperative. Rain, wind, flies, and a heavy, dark, overcast sky dampened my spirits. At WP2 a family of gorgeous pink cockatoos flew in. They spent about half an hour demolishing some paddy melons. There was a late weather change forecast, so I waited 5hrs. It was late, and was not going to arrive until sunset. I wanted to see the much more dramatic Red Top section of the lunette at sunset, if the cloud bank moved enough for the sun to shine across the land. After completing the Earthcache questions I caught a magical sunset.TFTEC!

Beautiful old man. So many birds in it early this morning.TFTC!

27-Sep-24
This was a great side trip! Beautiful day! A bit of wind, but lots of sun. Love the paper daisies growing everywhere.TFTEC!

26-Sep-24
It feels like I've been doing a TeamThommo geology class lap of Australia. Side quest out to Broken Hill and Mungo NP before the school holiday makers flood the parks.Collecting a few quick caches enroute. Thanks TeamThommo for another excellent Earthcache!

25-Sep-24
Can I just say, my car doesn't have the right clearance for this road, and bits of the track up to the top of the borderline. I need a L4 terrain for this! It required some tricky pretend-4WD skills. Also began raining on the "Dry Weather Only" track!!!That was a fun day collecting a few of these funky border crossings on the dirt roads.TFTC!

24-Sep-24
Stealth was required. Great spot. Came up over the dunes and returned over the rockpools.TFTC!

1st of 3 borders todayTfTC

I walked past here during my walk around Australia, actually turned off here and took the back road to the 'Boob'.Listened to a lot of the Oils while walking 17,200kms. Had no idea when I walked past it was from Diesel and Dust. Took a photo of another similar old cottage which reminded me of it, on the same day I turned off the road right next to the actual one!Have been wanting to get back all these years.TFTC!

Today's quest is to cross 3 borders, from Burra to Menindee. Just drove the 110kms out to the SA/NSW border. NSW didn't bother with a welcome sign but there is a geocache. Next stop is the SA/VIC sign, then VIC/NSW.TFTVC

I was supposed to come here with friends but ended up on a solo tour of the Peninsula, while they caught squid over the other side.TFTC

Nice brisk walk while checking how I missed the turn and ended up here.TFTC

2 of 3 borders todayTFTC

23-Sep-24
It was very windy. Forgot my pen but signed with a leaf smudge.TFTC!

This was a pretty little walk out. Lovely beaches. A lazy little roo family.TFTC

22-Sep-24
Wasn't looking for a cache but saw it. Didn't have a scribbler so used a pea petal to leave my scratch.

21-Sep-24
Backtracking from my drive around Australia this weekend, to spend a couple of days with friends on holidays. Many times I have travelled across South Australia, yet have never visited Yorke Peninsula. While my friends, regulars here, are fishing, I am out exploring.

Watching 3 seals with their flippers in the air sailing in a circle together. Very cute!TFTC!

12-Sep-24
Arrived last night but the road was blocked for an event. Returned this morning.TFTC!

Excellent views!Interesting geology.A few wildflowers still around.TFTC

Great views from here!TFTC

Same confusion as others. Signed the obvious cache 6m from GZ, but not sure it was the right one. The actual coordinates were sending me over the edge, so I played it safe.I think there might be 2 different hides up there.Anyway, signed and left a pathtag. An excellent walk up!TFTC

I had time for one long walk or two short ones, so I chose Castle Rock and here, plus a bonus walk around town for the Hawker Adventure Lab.Very happy to have chosen this walk. Beautiful and fun!TFTEC!Answers sent

Pretty cool museum.TFTEC!

10-Sep-24
Distracted by pretty things.TFTC!

Full set of Woomera trads and ALs.This one was the most interesting.A magpie came down to get my attention and led me up the rocks to a pair of emu feathers, swallow nests and some gorgeous wildflowers. Thank you magpie for not swooping me.Warning, it is a place of death. Many roos have come to grief here. I prefer to imagine it was natural causes, being cased over the edge by dingos or fighting for mob leadership. The number of skeletons does seem too suspicious though.Apart from that, it is an amazing location. All that black rock!

This town feels very strange, so many iterations. Some of these have been very dark.TFTC

Great view!TFTC!

The graveyards here tell a few stories.TFTC!

Whoever lived here must have watched a lot of changes happen around them.Headed out just before sunset, as the sun dropped to the horizon, the flies disappeared to wherever flies go at night. It was much more pleasant.TFTC!

I went outback for 3 days to escape the flies here. 3 days later they are worse.A very quick find with a very quick photo.TFTC!

Left a starry space path tag hereTFTC!

It's full of Smarties!Sunset caching without the flies.TFTC

You'd think they'd have learnt not to cage anyone away. Refugees or wildlife, neither are okay.I'd love to see this turned into a real arboretum, without enclosures.TFTC

Sunset walk to the top.TFTC

09-Sep-24
Staying here for a couple of days. Found while quiet, not while the Cudgee Bar was open.Log has been snail chewed, cache is missing a lid.Off to get the Adventure Labs now.TFTC!
