Quick easy find in the rain after a lovely meal at a nearby restaurant. TFTC

06-Jan-12
Visited area this morning but far too many muggles around. Came back in the evening after a nice dinner cruise on Lake Rotorua aboard the Lakeland Queen. Quick easy find. TFTC.

05-Jan-12
Nice fine day today so plenty of muffles around. Once clear it was a quick and easy find. Tftc.

Quick easy cache on our arrival in rotorua. Nice and quiet on the park today. Tftc.

Did not manage to find in the afternoon as we went down the wrong path. Came back at dusk, found the right path and cache was quickly located. TFTC

Did not find cache - visited twice with two of us.

Very literally left no stone unturned.

?cache muggled as I notice others have had no joy here either.

Found cache easily.

Awesome little spot.

Well worth the effort and visit.

Took in a trusty 4x4 and new crew member. Got us right to the general vicinity.

Found likely location of cache but unable to locate cache.

Signs of muggle activity everywhere. - Think this cache may have been muggled.

Called off the search when muggles arrived.

First time looking for a cache using smart phones. Cache was easy to see as we approached ground zero, so rehid it so that it wasn't as obvious but still easy to find. Log book has come apart and pages very damp after all the rain we have had. TFTC. Smile

Quick and easy find. Driven past this area heaps of time and never realised that there was a waterfall here. Amazing what you find on your doorstep thanks to geocaching. TFTC.

#71. As everyone has already said - it is a shame about all the tagging. This is a lovely bush if you ignore the tagging. Once we found the right spot - GPS not great in the bush - it was a quick and easy find. TFTC

#70. Relatively quick find. Great views from here. TFTC.

Work around GZ well underway and area well fenced off. Work is expected to take at least 3 months. Structure mentioned in clue has been demoloshed - (02.01.11) Sad

Another find for the Noraa1 team. Find took us a bit longer than anticipated but patience is a virtue and we were rewarded with a find.

Nice hide.

I am pleased to say that we have found this cache.

Another easy find for the Noraa1 team. Thankfully the tide was out so no wet toes were acquired .... apart from 1 team member ... who stood in a big mud puddle.

All that aside - a great cache, nice spot.

Another find for the Noraa1 one team.

In: Dare Key ring
Out: Geocoin (CR7C3K)

Unfortunately the exact date of this find is unknown - however it was sometime around the 9th.

Awesome place - saw Busby's wife's grave ... that was cool

Were muggles around at the time, however some stealth (and the bush) was used to find the cache.

TFTC.

Attempted this cache some day around the 9th of January.

Unfortunately none of the Noraa1 team could find the sign.

One member started down a track to get within 18metres of GZ. Called off the search as track continued on and didn't seem to double back Sad

Nice lookout though Smile

PLease also note that the track does seem to have slipped slightly at one stage - a step down then a step back up 2 metres later.

We hunted for this cache at around this time and were unsuccessful.

We believe that the cache may have been muggled - especially if it is a "rubbish hide"

;(

Exeact date of thisa find is uncertain however it was some time around the 5th.

Wonderful view! A very nice island and spot.

Also visited the cafe / restaraunt on the island and got a meal there.

NB: I THINK the cache here has had water in it at some stage - however am not 100% certain. I also believe that a new logbook may be required for this cache. Thanks!

Found!

A very interesting area.

Yes ... we did ask a local for some help - however without the local knowledge we really would not have found this cache.

Wow! that wooden cannon was awesome! It's amazing what nature comes up with.

Found GZ with few hassles.

It is also unfortunate to have to tell that the cache has been at some stage waterlogged and as such the log book is wet, and a new one is required Sad

A nice spot.

This spot certainly was a muggle magnet, and the 10 minute walk was worth it.

A quick stop on our way to check out our camp site for Christmas at Haruru Falls. Easy find. Photos taken to share with the children in my class when they read the school journal story about these toilets.

Went out for a day of geocaching and decided to start with this one as it looked easy enough. Nearly gave up as hard to get a good fix with the GPS, but we persisted long enough to locate cache. TFTC.

#56 Second attempt at this one. First time wasn't thinkinh clearly enough to find first clue. Found the hills a challenge to climb in the heat. Easy find once first clue found and hills were conquered. TFTC

#58 Second attempt at this one. Both times we have come here it has started to rain, but we were determined to find this cache today. TFTC

#57 Nice stroll across the park. Cool Camo. TFTC

Find #48. GPS was all over the place at this site, but good eyes soon spotted a possible hiding place. Bingo. Cache quickly retrieved. In Spok's 3rd ear Geocoin Out - TFTC.

Find #47. Stealth required with this one. We certainly had one person wonder what we were doing as we sat and waited for a moment while the muggles moved past. Good hiding place. TNLN TFTC.

Find #53. Came across this one while driving to another cache. (We weren't going to do any in the CBD today). No easy parking available so a quick dash between car & bench required. Lots of muggles around so care was needed. TFTC.

Find #51. A quick and easy find as we managed to park right by the cache site. While the site was easily found, the retrieval proved more challenging for the shortest member of our team. TNLN. TFTC

Find #44. An easy find after a stroll across the domain. TNLN TFTC.

Find #49. An interesting cache. Extra care was needed as there was a muggle resting on the ground just in front of the stones. Cache quickly found. TNLN. TFTC

Find #54. The first location in town that AK recognised while caching today as this is where he went for college pipe band practises. A quick walk to the site. What a fantastic camo. TFTC.

Find # 46. Another easy find at the start of a day of geocaching. Let's hope the rest of the finds are easy to find. TNLN. TFTC.

Find # 45. An easy find with only a few muggles around in this part of the domain. TNLN. TFTC.

Find #52. The quickest & easiest find of the day. It was nice to be able to visit an Auckland Historic Building that the young team members had never been to before. TNLN. TFTC

Find #50. A quick find while in town today. Filled in the log on a blank page we found towards the back. TFTC.

Find #39. Found this on 2nd visit to beach. On 1st visit we were using the co-ordinates that take you out to sea. The tree was found but we didn't realise it and didn't look too hard as there was a bird guarding the tree (It was not being at all friendly!).

We wanted to find this before heading back to Auckland the next day. After a day out fishing we had another go. This time we had the pressures of an incoming tide and being able to get back to Ohope Beach before dark.

This time the cache was found easily at the tree we thought it was at on our first visit (no bird on guard today).

Noticed this was a new listing while on holiday at Ohope Beach. Never completed an Earthcache before so decided to find it while on our way to a day of fishing. TFTC

We did it!!! Find # 38. 1st clue easy. 2nd clue obviously easier to find than it was before. 3rd clue not as far as we thought. Once found we had to agree on what words were to be used for the different numbers.(There was 3 of us counting the words, this made for interesting variations / answers - especially from the one who just achieved NCEA level 1 Maths)

Tried to shortcut but not really an option so looked for a possible path. Needed to finish before it got dark so the pressure was on. Within 5 - 10 minutes had cache in our hands and we were jumping for joy.

Decided Avigecko has had a long enough rest and that it was time to move him on.

In Bead Bracelet
Out Avigecko travel bug.

Amazing views from up here and worth the visit.

Woke up to a rainy and overcast day. We watched the funeral for Sir Ed on tv and then decided to go for a drive to Opotiki and do some geocaching while out.

What a fantastic place this is. We would never have known this existed if we weren't geocaching (isn't it great the places geocaching takes you to). "Taketakerua was absolutely amazing.

In The Gates Travel Bug
Out Jetson's Boy Elroy Travel Bug

A nice garden in town. Found area of trees easily but finding the cache proved to be not as easy as it was difficult to get an accurate reading with GPS while under cover. Youngest member of our team came across cache by accident while walking around the trees. TFTC.
