Logs for asinthecity

17-Nov-24
I've been eyeing up this cache for a while now. Every time I visited the waterfalls at Cedar Creek for a swim I've looked at the map and wondered how much further up the creek this cache is. Without phone signal up there I've never been able to tell. Today was the day for me to find out. With a little bit of research through previous logs I got a good idea of what to expect. [davidwazza]'s Strava tracking was a perfect guide of how long it would take, and [@1MinnieMoo](https://coord.info/PRDCNKE) & [@Pprime (P`)](https://coord.info/PR3YKQ6) coordinates gave me a revised GZ to put in my GPS. Together they mean I could head out prepared and with confidence that I knew what I was getting myself into.Once there, it was perfect excuse to go exploring through one of my favourite parts of Brisbane. Rocking your way up the creek, and stopping for the occasional swim, is great way to spend a warm day. It might make the 2.5 trek to GZ quite a bit of effort, but it's also a lot of fun.At GZ a short search at the right coords made for a quickly located the cache. Hopefully, I'll find an excuse to make the trek up here again sometime soon.

A nice simple find. A great reason to get out from under my rock for once

Out for a walk along the escarpment. Why not pick up a cache or two. The GPS was a bit off on this one. Needed to expand the search a little

TFTC. Very waterlogged and hard to sign.Quite the walk up the beach on a hot day with day packs! Nice to escape the crowds.

With the help of a bit of a piggy back we got there

Stopped in whilst driving past. Gotta remember the camping site for next time!

Up up and away indeed. TFTC

Stop #2 the day whilst going for a fine walk along the dam.Unfortunately, I couldn't the clue in there which is the second without a clue so I won't be finding the final today.

With summer and hot days returning, it was a perfect day to go out for the first paddle of the season. And what better goal for a paddle than a cache to go find. When I got to the island, this turned into a real bush bash. I couldn't find any obvious trails. But I got there. I love a good old fashion ammo tin in the bush just waiting for someone to dust off.

A simply beautiful beach. TFTC

The area is currently a construction site so unfortunately we could get down to see this beautiful spot

Found with ease by a little helper who was able to follow the instructions easier than the bigger people.

This one took two visits. Being a high muggle area we couldn't really do a thorough search without attracting attention. After reading some logs, viewing some pics, and reviewing the coords I was figure out the right spot and quickly locate it.

I really should read instructions thoroughly before taking on a cache. How many times have I learnt this lesson when trying to track down a cache?I was walking into town, exploring, using the One Mile Creek as a shortcut. I noticed that there was a cache only 250m away so thought why not make a short detour to log it?If only I read the cache description thoroughly I would have known what to expect. And still gone for it anyway. Thankfully I was suitably prepared and able to both navigate the hie safely - and enjoy it.Thanks for taking me into this beautiful spot.

Cracking look out spot. Well worth stopping to check out. Ever better that there was a cache track down. TFTC

A great little hide, well worth stopping to track down. TFTC

A great spot to stop and take a welcome pic. The log book was quite wet. The container has been cracked and is no longer waterproof.

A beautiful spot to either start a day on the slopes or have a apre afterwards

18-Aug-24
A cracking spot to stop and take in the view. Well worth gondola ride and walk up the hill. Just make sure you don't accidentally step in from of a passing vehicle.

On a cold, windy winter day we took the easy a point option.

What a spot to stop and find a cache. I just wish I had a some sort of optical enhancement device to help take in the view.

We've been saving this cache for just the right day when the temperature was low and the energy levels high. Today was the day. Hoping on our bikes we headed off in search of the grail. After a few poor choices we finally made the right one. True to the story, the grail was protected by a Grail Night who had taken an eight legged form.Unfortunately the log was too wet to sign. We tried to dry it out as best as possible before returning it to its home for the next crusaders to find. Thanks to the CO for a fun cache.

This puzzle was definitely one of the trickiest of the series. I spent many hours staring at it, trying many different approaches. In the end, I need both to partner up on it, and get a couple of tips from the CO to solve it. There were some new techniques in there I wouldn't have figured out by myself. The cache itself turned out to be the of the trickiest of series to catch and release. Using my TOTT, I required several attempts to access it and then return it to it's perch. Overall, it was a very satisfying cache to log.

After some ordering shenanigans, I finally got myself equiped with the TOTT. Heading out for an afternoon fishing expedition, once I found the right path up to the GZ we were quickly able to locate this cache. With a little bit of trial and error, we quickly mastered the art of casting a line and were able to log our first tree fishing cache.

Dadum dadum. Another beat on the drum. And another fish on the hook.

We first spotted this one a while back, when we were only just becoming familiar with the tools required for caching.Fully equiped, we set out again to log this one. I read some of the previous logs just before snagging this one, to find out that a friend had just recently been here and left something behind. Lo and behold, when I dropped this cache into my sons hands he found an extra piece attached. [@neilo10](https://coord.info/PR8NRA7), I have your hook in safe hands.

Looking around for this cache, I had a look at the recent comments. Reading some comments about toilet paper, I looked pulled my gaze down from the tree tops to look down to see what I was stepping on when I almost stepped on the cache itself. After signing it I returned it to it's original perch.

We looked up, down, and all around but could not find this one.

We had to be quick busting out the TOTT of this one, with lots of muggles out walking in the area. But with some team work we quickly accessed this cache, signed it, then returned it to its home.

We had the pleasure of a walk down Oberon Bay on the way to the lighthouse. Such a stunning location. It's always a pleasure to learn something new on the way along a hike. Gonefishen07 thanks for setting up the cache and teaching me something about erosion.

I stopped past this glorious beach on our way to the lighthouse. We were fortunate enough to pass through on a sunny day in the middle of winter. The sight of the beach made me want to jump in the water for a swim. Having to take our shoes and socks off for the river crossing was enough to literally chill both my feet and my enthusiasm for a swim. TFTC!

The lighthouse was a sight for sore eyes after a stunningly beautiful, but long walk in. I forgot to take a caching pic during daylight, so here's a team pic upon arrival, plus one of the lighthouse + caching name in the dark when we set off the next day.

Some early progress gave me false confidence that this puzzle would being easier than a 4 star rating. In the end I spent a lot of time starring at this puzzle, journeying down different dead end pathways, before I finally found the right destination. They were some very satisfying coords to plug into my map.Finding the cache also turned out to take me more attempts than expected. My first attempt was the last stop on a day's itinerary spent collecting some other caches in the area. After a short search in fading light I concluded that I'd need to concede to coming back another day. On the second attempt, some tips from previous from previous logs and residents helped to expand my search to find the right home for this little container.

A great spot to visit and wander around. TFTC

Found the cache just in time to shelter from a brief shower, taking advantage of the local shelter provided.

This climb was far more trouble free than the last. Unfortunately the shorter member of the asinthecity team was still too short for this one. So the older one had to go up instead. Thankfully there were no slippages this time around.
