Logs for blossom*

21-Nov-24
After some good years of rain, the reflectors have rusted and dropped off so time to disable this cache

As I no longer work near here, it is proving difficult to get back to check the cache. I will try to make the trip by the end of the year. If I don't get there by then I will have to sadly archive it

I've updated the link to the webcam so it's current

04-Nov-24
I will get to the city to check on this cache by the end of next week.

I've always been fascinated by B & W, their trials and tribulations and the huge distances they traveled. So it's great to add another of these caches to my found list. I liked Cloncurry and we visited the old Mary Kathleen town site - quite amazing, not least because of the large number of caravans living there at this time of year.

On our way home after an long trip in this peaceful countryside. Great to find another B & W location, their story has long been one of my favourite ones to ponder.

Great spot to admire the geology. It was pretty windy today when we stopped here for morning tea. I was very keen to climb the subject of this cache but resisted the temptation

29-Jul-24
It's a very long time since this was placed and 13 years since it was last found. Sadly I think it has probably gone. We searched the holes but no cache to be found. But what a great place!

27-Jul-24
Well if this cache was here last year, the floods would have carried it far, far, far away as the flood level was a few metres above my head when standing at GZ!!

26-Jul-24
We were travelling with my brother and his partner (in a separate vehicle) who are luckily also cachers when on a long trip. Luckily! Because they were very understanding when I pulled up in the middle of nowhere and was meandering about in the middle of the highway, trying to get the most accurate co-ords for this cache. Laughing Not my choice of a good camp site but then I guess B & W didn't have a lot of choices

25-Jul-24
Great spot for free camping here and there were quite a few caravans taking advantage of it. Luckily none near the cache which was quickly found.

Lovely little park for lunch with heaps of shade. Yes, the vegetation seems to have grown quite thick here but we managed to find the container once at the correct tree

23-Jul-24
A nice find in a town full of unexpected interest. What a great spot, so different to many other gorges we've seen around

22-Jul-24
What a brilliant spot!! I loved this, so different from most gorges with the different rock types here. A definite favourite! We tries to answer all the questions, hope they're ok

What an amazing bridge! I looked at the big dip and commented that you wouldn't want to be in any train on that. Turns out they DO run trains every week across there!!! Thanks for the cache in a really interesting and surprising town. So glad we stayed the night here in the Caravan Park

What an interesting display. The guy who did the talk was really interesting with all sorts of facts and stories for us. Then we did the loop walk and headed back to the car to eat lunch and loo up the cache location. Oh! Back where we've already been! It was pretty busy there, so I just sat nonchalantly on the ground writing out log and nobody paid me any attention

Just loved this spot. The guy giving us the tour was really excellend, full of information and he made it so interesting with all the bits of info.

16-Jul-24
On my first big trip for quite a few years so it was nice to have a few caches to fill the empty miles up here!

Good spot to pull off the road. As we pulled in, counting down the distance to GZ, we sailed right past the spot and had to walk right back!! Thanks for the stop-off and leg stretch

15-Jul-24
What a brilliant spot! Amazing story and even the non-caching members of the group were fascinated with this stop.

Pretty amazing story! Thanks for the cache

A very roomy rest area with great facilities, a very informative sign and a lovely cache to find as well! Couldn't ask for much more

This was a great cache! It was good to have a bit of a leg stretch to get to it instead of just being right next to the car. And yes, what a top old bridge this one is. A favourite for me

14-Jul-24
No TBs here today. The cache seems a bit neglected and damp at the moment. A new container and nice dry log book would be good but we didn't have anything with us to help

07-Apr-22
This was a pretty easy one for me! Team Lego Men drove us from Sydney, parked near the cache and did the retrieving as well! But I did the log signing

11-Mar-22
A very big day for me! 21km hike from Charlotte Pass to this spot and return on a beautiful day.

Still in good condition but obviously not a popular spot for cachers to visit Sad

A really lovely walk along a nice open bush track to wonderful views

The cache seems to have disappeared

21-Dec-18
This was an amazing climb. We set off nice and early on a totally clear morning and as we got to the button grass area out of the trees, we saw a little bunch of Christmas bells. Then we saw some more. Then we saw a hillside FULL of Christmas bells. As we kept going, the whole of the route was covered in clumps of them. Quite stunning. To say nothing of the wonderful views. And the little snake just by the trig Surprised

17-Dec-18
I 'specially chose this Tassie trip to be in December as I thought I ought to see what it's like when all the rainforests are not in huge droughts. And I'd been told it was generally pretty wet in December. In fact, we had very nice weather nearly all the time but the rainforests were very nice and green and drippy. The climb up here was done in very misty weather which gave a great atmosphere to the hillside but did rather hide the views! And I saw a Ground Parrot on the way down which is a pretty rare sighting as they're so shy.

16-Dec-18
I figured The Nut wasn't too high so the climb would be pretty easy. No. It was SO steep climbing up the path! But a lovely view at the top and lots of shearwater nests all along the path at the top as it was just coming in to their breeding season.

20-Dec-17
Looks as if this one has gone. I'll try to get up there in the next few days to replace it and will log here if I manage to do that.

17-Dec-17
I like Ikkibrady's log. A very insightful thought for us to ponder upon, and act upon too Idea

15-Sep-17
After almost a year, a few things have changed so I've updated the descriptions to (hopefully) make things more current and maybe a bit easier Smile

25-Mar-17
We started from the mentioned carpark and hiked 700m up the dirt road to the middle of nowhere. No seat in sight, just scrubby rubbishy bush. Still, we searched around for 15 minutes and decided the co-ords are very unlikely to be anywhere near accurate.

As nobody has ever found this and it's definitely not in a cache-type spot (see photo), I suggest it be archived. I note the CO has no activity

17-Mar-17
Heading to the airport, we voted for a dash up to Walkers lookout for a last view of the places we'd enjoyed over the last week. What a top place! Today was sunny with only a bit of a breeze and the views were great.

I'd spent the whole week marveling at the geology of the island so it was fitting that this earth cache was the last stop before our flight. There are SO many fascinating rocks everywhere and I couldn't stop taking photos of them all! The coastline shows great evidence of the different sea levels over the centuries and is a top area to study the various rocks.

As we were heading to the airport, the plan was hatched to drop our bags off, unhook the trailer at the caravan park, drive up for a last look up here, back to pick up the trailer again and then dash to the airport to board the plane. Sounded good to me Very Happy
So we had a lovely day and a last look at all the lovely places we'd climbed and walked in the last week

16-Mar-17
A week of walking all around the place on Flinders Island - what a lovely area. A few nice mountains to climb and miles of gorgeous coastline.
We stopped in at Lady Barron for a drink at the pub and I ducked around to find this cache. it was a bit further along than I first looked but found after 5 minutes TFTC

15-Mar-17
Quite a search but I'm not sure it's there. Nothing but broken-down tea tree pushed off the path by a machine at the GZ location.

13-Mar-17
On a gorgeous day, we climbed up here to admire the views with our walking group

10-Mar-17
We climbed the wall and poked into every hole but didn't find anything useful in the way of caches. Never mind, a lovely walk around here

It was a lovely walk along the river today and we managed to find some of the information boards. Really interesting area and I was quite surprised by some of the answers.

WP1 seems to be fenced off at the moment but WP2 is finished and looks great. Thus we answered 1,2,5 &6

On a wander around Lonnie we found this little laneway. A fairly useful cache as it happened Smile

This was a lot of fun! We scanned the information boards for all the answers until we knew pretty well everything that was on each board. Ah-ha! Finally got them all so I could log a "found" Dancing Thanks for the fun and the walk along the river.

We walked around and around before we finally fixed on the right little stick up there! The old trigs are a lot easier to spot!

A lovely park and very interesting to read the history. It was a long time ago to be so well made Very Happy Thanks for bringing us here
