Logs for grotto

03-Feb-15
Found by Caitlin doing life skills training. I helped a bit. Depressing old shed.

Cool wet summer left the oval unusually green for the time of year I found cache after a bit of a hunt . Area looked a bit snakey so I was a bit cautious. None seen. Only rustling noises. Logged and left. 5 c coin added.

Easily found despite the strange looks from the many passersby . Cloudy cool day for summer. Logged took nothing.

Nice day for a walk but watch out for the black and white

I live in the area so a pretty easy find. It is a great view. The only criticism I would have is that the area of the cache is unstable and very sensitive to erosion. You may notice the plants we have tried to plant there to stabilise the soil. It is not appropriate for this spot to have a lot of traffic. Perhaps the cache could be located 20 m to the west on the rocks. This would help preserve the area but make the climb a bit more difficult.I wouldbe happy to hear anyones thoughts on the issue

Not braille but could have been. as with all river caches the dilemma is which side to approach from. When in doubt read directions look up maps etc .. ah it looks south. Wrong again.Perhaps next time...After a circuitous route finally found.Nice spot if a little wet under foot. Could have easily been a bomb crater. Easy find after a while; nice puzzle.

2nd attempt at this one. Cane in from the north which was a mistake as it turned out. Got there in the end thank god for 4x4's. Scares of a few reptiles in the process. Thanks for a nice walk and drive. Getting out was harder than getting in.

Spent a while on the puzzle then solved with a nudge in the right direction. Made the find at 1400 not a muggle in sight probably because of the strong wind which made it hazardous up there. Sent the crazy kid up there first but he was too short to reach. I retrieved the cache with all fingers intact.
Thanks Z for the fun puzzle and challenging location

Found after doing gilburn. Easy find on a pleasant sunday. Hoped to be able to drop off TB and despite the small cache managed to squeeze it in. Hope someone moves it to more salubrious accommodation soon. Left Tb And Silver venus coin and took led torch thanks bob it will be handy for looking into some of those dark Z caches!

Did the puzzle a whole ago but thought id wiat till the virus had dissipated.Nice walk on a saturday morning. A few suspicious stares from passing muggles and dogs.As usual initially on the wrong side of the river. Soon found and several days later no rash! Chicken pox can be a nasty illness in adults.

North or south that was the question. Unfortunately got it wrong and ended up in unfortunate and waterlogged circumstances. Soon dried off and had cache in hand and logged. Nice area for a stroll

I hate this sort of GZ so many hiding places. Not even a can of pale in sight. Eventually spotted a likely bush and it was in our hands, and not a moment too soon as the cruising constabulary were eying us with suspicion.

Cold afternoon noone around and tide out so easy find. Nice mangroves in the area. Almost a driveby today. I wonder what the history of the area is. It looks like an abandoned industrial estate . Drove around the roads for a while Quite interesting area.

Nice puzzle and hide. If only I was taller.I could have loggeed it earlier but because someone widened the webpage I couldnt find the log link for a while! The 42 peptides encoded in the puzzle are mostly short neurotransmiitters and endorphines common in frog brains. One of the longer segments encodes for a smell memory of the primeval swamp. This was surprisingly appropriate given the location which often smells like a swamp in the summer when the bluegreen algae blooms. What a coincidence. I am currently working on synthesizing all the sequences in the puzzle to see what else can be learned about the amphibian brain.

Second attempt at this one. Last time in summer there were reptilian rustles and so we didnt stay long. Easier this time with a bridge courtesy of autumn gales. Apart from 1 dead and 1 live water rat there were no other surprises. The cache was easily found and logged, and hidden a little better. Two wet boots were the only casualties and the algae has finished blooming for the time being so I think Ill survive.

TFTC it was a lot of fun

Obscure little park. Just a little spooky with the thought of those 300 pairs of long dead eyes watching every move. I wonder what those long dead folk would have made of geocaching? The geodog even had a nervous pee on one of the headstones, sorry about that.

"I love golt the touch of it the schmell of it the taste of it." I was driving down the road on a golden autumn afternoon when a golden shaft of light caught my eye. At the same time the proximity warning on the gpsr sounded. Cipher gold 5/4 was all it said. I started simply with the mental rigors of tin and bronze and the torture of silver and here I was finally at a golden GZ. But alas my eyes are dim and the afternoon dark and stormy. I searched high and low and the suddenly just before leaving a golden ray from the setting sun illuminated the cache and it was mine all mine. And double golden number 100 too!Big Grin
In the imortal words of Goldmember " Dats veird!!"

Thanks for a great series of fun caches. P.S. Does anyone want to buy a hard copy of US army Cryptography Manual?
