Logs for Dooghan
17-Feb-24
The weather was excellent today. Not too warm and cloudless sky. The only bad thing was the bloody flies hanging around your face. I took in the view and a few pics before heading for the cache. A quick search and I had the cache in hand. Made my mark in the log book before heading off for my next adventure. FFTC

I found this cache on the ground. I put it back to where I thought it came from. CO might like to check on it.
I don't cache much now days. I just happened to come across this cache by accident. I was just sitting there looking at all the acorns on the ground and I saw this thing on the ground. I picked it up and through I know what this is. Signed the log and put it back to where I thought it came from.

A nice easy find on the way home. Just a shame the area looking the the local dump. TFTC
A cold Sunday morning (1 deg) I was pretty keen to the explore the history at GZ. The dirt road started off good but turned into crap the last 900m. Only got 800m in and parked the bike up. Headed on down to the weir to find the river totally frozen over with about 6 to 7mm sheet of ice. Never seem a river frozen over. I headed on up the western side of the river to find the start of the track. The track was well marked and easy to follow. Stopped off at Thomas's grave to have look and pay my respects. A short distance on to explore the ruins and take heaps of photos. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area. The cache was an easy find. After spending quite a bit of time exploring the ruins I headed on to the dam and the quarry. I was quite impressed with work they did. My research suggested they was more to look at on the eastside of the river. I was running out of daylight so I passed on exploring that side of the river. I had a fantastic day and TFTC.

I've found this cache a while back but I didn't have a pen on me. Today pen in pocket and just a nice walk around the park. Sometimes in the late afternoon I'll see the platypus playing in the river but not today. TFTC

A fantastic day to head up to Mt Barrow. In the past the gate down the bottom has been always closed. I was happy to see it wasn't. Fantastic landscape and quite. Only the sound of insects. I hadn't planned on finding a cache but I thought I would look up see it there was one up here. Happy see there was one. The gate up top was closed so I made the 800m walk to GZ. The cache was a bit wet so needed a bit of TLC. TFTC

I was out and about looking for some Ghost Mushrooms to photograph. It's been a while since I've cached so fired up the app. What do you know a cache nearby. Cache easily and in good condition. SLTFTC

Found it months ago but at the time I didn't have a pen to sign the log. So back for a quick find. I can now say I have visited the statue, his grave and taken a tour of his home. The log book was full and damp. I replaced it with a new one. TFTC

Parked the bike on the side of road and off I went for a scrub bash. Don't even take my motorbike helmet off. Found the cache no problem. Looked back to where the bike was and wasn't to far away. Looked like a easy trek back but wasn't. TFTC Dooghan
Had a good look this cache but I couldn't find it. A bit of flood debris in the area. They was a nice deep pool of crystal clear water under the bridge. It was trying to attempt me to go for a swim. TFTC Dooghan
Pulled up at GZ and said to myself "ooh no". The GPSr was pointing at the blackberry bushes. Well I found my way in and sure enough it was just under the bush. So carefully I pulled it out and signed the log. TFTC Dooghan
A nice easy cache to find. Looking at the pic on the cache page it doesn't look like that ATM. Pretty dry. TFTC Dooghan
Bloody GPSr lead me on a wild goose chase for a bit. Found the cache in the end. TFTC Dooghan
Spent a bit of time looking for this cache. Used the clue and still nothing. Just happened to look down at the ground under the grandstand. There it was laying on the ground with its lid off. Cache all fine. Now to try and figure out where you came from. Using the clue I put it back where I thought it came from. CO might want to check on it. TFTC Dooghan
Out and about exploring the area. A little warm in my motorbike jacket. What little water in the river was starting to looking inviting. Easy as to find. TFTC Dooghan
Last cache for the day before heading home to Evandale. TFTC Dooghan.
Some how I expecting a pyramid of rocks or something . Seen that a few times as a survey marker. Still interesting all the same. Finding the cache had me scratch my head for a few minutes. Just couldn't see a place it could be hidden for the listed size. After a bit more searching I got it. TFTC Dooghan
Out for a bit of a ride and to explore the area. No problem in finding the cache. Just got it back into its hiding place when a couple of muggles turned up. Had a bit of a chat with them and found out at this moment John Glover's old house is open for viewing. So that was my next stop. TFTC Dooghan

Just recently moved to Evandale so slowly doing the local caches. No problem in finding the cache. Had a interesting wander around the graves for a look. I'll have to get up one Sunday for a look inside the church. TFTC

Cache name gave it away. Didn't have to use a GPSr to find it. Log was shredded and stuffed into the container. I had to dig it out of the container to get it out (see pic). Replaced it with a new one. TFTC

Forgot to log this cache last year. Could not remember when I signed the log. So I was in area on the 13-03-17 again and looked it up. I thought the dirt mound was man made. I was surprised to find out otherwise. TFTC Dooghan

Cache in good order. Very windy while I was there. Had a quick drive around town. The place was dead quite. No one around. TFTC.
Heading to Strahan from Launceston for the weekend. Had to stop at the nearby geo-center. I thought there had to be a cache here to find. Easy find. Cache in good condition. TFTC
15-Oct-16
It was a beautiful sunny day up there but the wind was blowing a gale. This made getting to GZ a bit dangerous and slow going. I had to get down behind the rocks so I could sign the log as it was blowing that hard. The view up there was worth it. The place was a ghost town. A couple of other people there but they left soon after. A little bit of snow and ice about. TNLNSL. TFTC.
A nice fine sunny at Ben Lomond today but blowing a gale. Going anywhere near the edge of the viewing platform the wind would push you back. This made it hard to get some pics but I got some. The view was just fantastic. I got down to business and got the needed answers, which have been sent. I enjoyed reading and learning about the formation of Ben Lomond. TFTC.
