Logs for richary
10-Nov-24
I do live a long way from it these days, but all the recent logs seem to suggest that all is well with it so will clear the NM flag.
I got the name a few days ago but as it was quite long decided to do the maths in the comfort of home, knowing I would definitely be back at Pennant Hills sooner or later. Today was the day and managed parking fairly close on the other side of the station. Quickly spotted once at GZ, a typical C62 hide out in the open. Thanks Bruce for the cache.

Having already completed the series with the now defunct Waitara one, I didn't need the codeword. Still I was in the area so thought I would pull into the side street and grab this for another smilie. Then off to the local shops for some supplies. Thanks Rama497.

I expect by then to be living the nomadic life (aka #vanlife) but if I am anywhere near the Sunshine Coast would expect to make it. At this stage would just be me - 1 person.

Made the decision to come down to this one, took my first ride on the Metro from Chatswood to Martin Place for a change. Great turnout for a weekday event as well. Unfortunately I had to leave a little early as I had an appointment at Chatswood at 1pm, but it was still great to catch up with people and show a couple of 1890s postcards I seem to have inherited in a box from my parents. Thanks Brew for the event.
25-Aug-24
Unfortunately I may not get there now as I still seem to be suffering a streaming nose that could be the flu or another visit from Covid, so probably better not to spread it around. But feel free to discover the Cosmic Quest coins I won off the Geocaching Downunder podcast a couple of weeks ago that I was going to bring along. CC6R4E and CC2974.
24-Aug-24
Annoying, this was close enough to home I could have walked to it. But since Thursday my nose hasn't stopped streaming so I have either caught the flu or another round of Covid. Decided in the interests of public health that staying home was a better option. I will have to sample their brews another time now that I know it is here.

Thanks for another battle cache. I went out in the first round but that's OK, it's more about the socialising in any case. Used to live close enough I could have walked it had I been so minded.
05-Aug-24
Should be able to make this one, need some time in the city to get some of the ALs as well.
23-Jul-24
I could easily cover the Hornsby or Mt Colah sites if someone wants to make a team. Hornsby about a 15 minute walk or Mt Colah a 10 minute drive.

Been a while since I have had to fly anywhere let alone international. Grabbed this on the way back from a stay in NZ looking after my sister's farm while they went on a European holiday for a few weeks. Was a nice break from Sydney being down in New Plymouth, and had a good view of the aurora earlier in May. Nice virtual to round off the trip (grabbed another couple of virtuals while there).

Called past today to collect this virtual. Answer sent and the attached photo - this little girl always used to remind me when I came home even if it was just for a day at work, let alone a holiday for a couple of weeks in which case she became very chatty. She turned up as a little 8 week old stray kitten but became a very loving kit.
Had a fair look around but no joy. A very fluffy cat was slowly approaching down the path and looked like it wanted to be friendly until the dog over the fence starting barking loudly and scared it into the bushes. I like meeting random friendly cats so that was a shame. But no luck spotting this hide. Thanks MIOW4.
A nice quick find here while detouring from doing the lab cache. A very pleasant walk around the reserve today, thanks TaraTed.
I think I had the right tree after googling what they looked like, a handicap coming from overseas and not knowing the locals. But no luck for me today with this one though I had a nice walk around the reserve after.
Easy find once at GZ, though getting the log out was difficult and it was a bit wet. Still managed to sign my name before heading back to the carpark. Thanks smoking gun and TaraTed.

I wonder who gets the job of numbering all of New Zealand's bridges? It doesn't happen back in Oz. Once I found the right level the cache was quickly in hand and signed. Thanks cuzincori.
Did the calculations, and ended up a place that matched the description. But despite a good search couldn't come up with the goods today. Oh well, thems the breaks.
Pretty quick find after parking and starting to walk around the structure. Another nice easy Inglewood find.
Well I certainly felt I was earning the terrain points with this especially after some mountain walks yesterday. But despite checking several pungas I couldn't find the thing today, despite a couple of good looking hiding spots. Thanks anyway for the walk barefootguru.
Got here at 2:55 only to be told the library was closing at 3 today as the staff had to go into town for a meeting. Asked for assistance which turned out to be just as well as the cache was in the wrong location (though nearby) but the librarian knew what it looked like. Signed and popped back into the correct spot. Thanks fjle.
Made my way up to a very nice view of the mountain today. But despite trying about 3 corners couldn't make the find. Last attempt for the day, oh well. Thanks for the introduction to the pleasant spot.
In New Plymouth until the end of the week from Sydney, this was an easy walk across the soccer fields for a quick find. Unfortunately the logbook is soaked and wouldn't take any input from my pen, though I found a texta in the cache to write the note (though it will probably run). Could probably do with a new log in a ziplock bag. Thanks cuzincori.
Initially the phone took me to the wrong tree and I searched fruitlessly. Tried a couple of others and was about to admit defeat, when on the walk out I spotted another possible contender and there it was. Thanks for the hide.
Still in New Plymouth until the weekend I thought I would come and hit some caches in the Inglewood area. Easy to pull up here heading in and cache quickly in hand. Thanks tracy.g.

Staying at New Plymouth with my sister after farm sitting for them we went for a drive and I flagged this as one I wanted to get. Unfortunately the mountain in the background was somewhat obscured by clouds today though you can see the bottom of it, just not the snow covered peak. Thanks HappyBogan for the chance to grab one of these cache types.
Staying with my sister in New Plymouth while visiting from Sydney, we went for a bit of a drive today. I started looking too high but my muggle sister ended up making the find. Then it was off for a burger for lunch. Thanks for the hide.
Visiting from Sydney, my sister took me for a drive up here. The one a bit higher up was proving a bit hard on my aging legs for the final rock scramble so retreated down the mountain and came to this which we would have targetted anyway. A nice quick easy find with the hint, though after signing had to wait for some muggles who had arrived to go outside and look at the sign before popping it back. Thanks RAYZR for the hide.

I am staying with my sister and her husband down the other side of town after farm sitting for them for a few weeks while they went on a holiday. This morning they wanted to visit a couple of garden centres and this was the 2nd one. Had a look at cachly and we were parked 20 metres away from this. So while they went in I had a look, at first ignoring the arrow for some more obvious palms nearby but then decided to trust it and with the help of the hint soon had cache in hand. Thanks dragon gem.

A nice quick find here with lots of convenient nearby parking as I have seen this style before. Managing to extract the log took a bit longer but got there in the end. Thanks Phronimos as I get closer to the end of my few weeks in New Plymouth visiting from Sydney.
No luck here today while visiting from Sydney despite checking numerous options. Oh well, that's life.
An interesting little stroll in here from the road while I am visiting from Sydney. Once at the site the cache was quickly in hand. Thanks TaraTed.
Took a little bit of searching as I was put off by the T1 rating. Eventually located but not in an area that would be wheelchair accessible to I suspect the T rating needs to go up a touch. Thanks Zork V.
Pretty sure I found the NFC tag in a logical place given the cache name, but stuffed if I could get the iPhone 11 with NFC Cool to read the tag - unless it was coded in a different format that program doesn't support. Oh well, can't win them all. Thanks Phronimos.

One of these annoying little things Fairly quick to locate, though extracting the log and then putting it back in was more time consuming. Thanks Juty Bug.
Visiting from Sydney for a few weeks of looking after my sister's farm. Once I found thr right track to get close with the hint it was a fairly quick find. Thanks trayc.g for the hide.
No luck with this one this afternoon, though it is fairly dark down there and I only had my multifocal sunglasses to help me look. Checked past logs but still couldn't come up with the goods on this one.
Somehow missed the couple of trads here while doing part of the Adventure Lab the other day. Managed a park right out the front of this one and quickly found. Thanks for the hide.
A nice early one that somehow I missed on my last New Plymouth trip almost 8 years ago. Parked above and found the stairs down, then a fairly quick find. Thanks smoking gun for the cache.

Another DNF from almost 8 years ago finally avenged. Started off in the wrong tree until I read the bit about it being NE of the friend, then it didn't take too long at all. Thanks Phronimos.
Walking along here and managed to find the 3 locations required, though I never actually spotted the carpark cam location. Grabbed some screenshots on the phone to make the find. Thanks tommygun9.
Nice day for a walk out on the breakwater today though I wish I had been able to get my sister's escooter going, would have made things a lot quicker! Fairly short find before I had it in hand. Thanks JoeyGEO for another one for my visit from Sydney.
Had a bit of a look around but with a young fisherman only a couple of metres away I couldn't have a really good look in all the spots I wanted to check. Probably easier if the weather was miserable! Thanks JoeyGEO.

I had no luck with the original incarnation during my last visit to New Plymouth almost 8 years ago. Today I thought I would duck out between the showers and grab the Blue Switch day souvenir while on the way into town for a little shopping. Round in circles a touch until I found the right track but then with the hint it was a relatively quick find and sign. Thanks Phronimos for the cache.

Staying down the road a bit farmsitting for my sister while visiting from Sydney. Not a particularly nice day for caching with a bit cold and windy so just grabbed on the way back from a quick trip to Countdown. Not sure what the Please Shut the Gate sign is referring to! Thanks captainultra.

Staying in the area for a few weeks from Sydney, while my sister goes on a European holiday. First of 10 finds for the day in a nice little rural loop. Thanks Phronimos.
Last for the day and the side road even took me back to the one I needed to be on. Thanks MIOW4.
Another nice quick one, though the plastic bag has split, but being packed like it is it doesn't seem to be causing a problem. Thanks MIOW4.
